Problem solving/project development

Senior pupils in schools and even those at an early age can help you to develop solutions and new projects to support your business. Many local authorities run programmes where businesses are matched with a team of students involving them in real life project environments with the aim of improving business performance.

One such programme is EDGE which, stands for 'Encouraging Dynamic Global Entrepreneurs'.

All the companies involved in this year's programme signed up because they had growth potential but did not have either the time or resources to explore ways of innovating or developing new working practices that would improve their business performance.

The beauty of programmes like EDGE is that they deliver real tangible business benefits for existing companies while sharpening up the business brains of our next generation of employees, employers and entrepreneurs.

Projects can range from making your manufacturing more efficient to improving company websites and identifying new market trends.

Working with young people can make your business more profitable, reduce your costs and make better use of your time. They bring new ideas, fresh enthusiasm, extra resource, IT skills, knowledge of new technologies and additional skills to tackle projects otherwise put on the backburner.

With your help and support, today's young people can focus on business issues and solutions, resolve business problems effectively, are good teamworkers and can think for themselves and get on with it.
