What are schools doing?

Teachers often support and encourage young people to make their own decisions, come up with ideas and take responsibility for their own learning.

Taking a similar approach with your child, or the child you look after can help them develop self-confidence, a 'can-do' attitude and the all-important ability to learn from mistakes.

Schools might arrange some of the following:

  • Producing a monthly local / school newspaper
  • Producing a yearly calendar
  • Designing and printing greeting cards
  • Recording and broadcasting 15 minute breakfast shows over the school's PA system
  • Working with an advertising agency to produce promotional materials on further education
  • Running their own mini-cafés
  • Producing tourist information on local area
  • Recycling projects
  • International links with other schools
